To promote active lifestyle and keeping fit, Playtech arranged for a stone ping pong table to be set up in a park next to Playtech’s Tartu office for public use. The table serves as a gift to Tartu and all its residents.

The stationary ping pong table is available for everyone to use. Prudent use and taking your own ball and rackets with you is expected.

Playtech embraces making a difference to the local community and therefore, every Playtech site has a local community investments committee in place to coordinate the projects of giving back to the society. Promoting health and an active lifestyle is an important mission that Playtech Estonia is focusing its charitable efforts on here in Estonia. Hence, in July, a ping pong table was bought and set up at the park next to Playtech’s office in Tartu.

„In parallel to the great work being done behind computer screens, taking care of our health and physical condition is highly important to all Playtech employees. We are active in sports, we have our own sports events series called Playthlon to try out different kinds of sports, we have several active sports groups in place. As part of an honored tradition at Playtech, we compensate the investments our employees make for practicing physical recreation. The next logical step for us was to promote active lifestyle outside of our company as well,“ Ivo Lasn, Director of Playtech Estonia said.

Lasn calls back the community investments committee sitting down at a meeting room together in autumn, thinking of projects to engage more people into active recreational activities in fresh air. „We saw from our office windows the active usage the ping pong table next to Kaubamaja’s parking lot is getting. This sparked the idea that a similar ping pong table could be situated on the other side of our building, in Uueturu park – for the joy and use of both our employees and all Tartu residents,“ Lasn added.

According to Raimond Tamm, Deputy Mayor at Tartu City Government, it is very important to add diverse sports facilities into urban public spaces and it is especially laudable when the private sector finds a way to contribute. „A sincere thank you from the city of Tartu to the employer that cherishes giving back to the local community and provides joy to all table tennis players with an addition of a public ping pong table. Our cooperation with Playtech was smooth and we are very open to other such cooperation projects with the private sector.“

The ping pong table situated in the greenery between Kaubamaja and Vanemuine theatre is a donation from Playtech to the residents of Tartu. Tartu City Government will be responsible for further maintenance of the gift.

„In parallel to the great work being done behind computer screens, taking care of our health and physical condition is highly important to all Playtech employees. The next logical step for us was to promote active lifestyle outside of our company as well."
